In bygone eras, vast herds of antelope roamed these dry, stony shrub savannas, traversing between the Namib Desert in the west and the Kalahari Desert in the east. Today, the Packriem River, a seasonal waterway that meanders through the farm, serves as a lifeline for a diverse array of wildlife. Huge herds of springbok and oryx can move from the surrounding area to the waterholes to quench their thirst in the midday heat and look for a shady spot under a large camel thorn tree. Old kudu bulls have their roosts on the slopes and gorges of the Packriem and move down into the river valley in the evening. Numerous flying game species, predators, warthogs and of course us and our guests also feel at home here. The area thus forms an extremely interesting hunting biotope on the edge of the desert.
